Study The Effect of Storage Capacity on The Performance of Swimming Pool Heating System

The current study includes a theoretical investigation of the influence of different mass storage (Ms) or the effect of storage capacity on the solar fraction factor (f) of a proposed solar heating system which can be used for heating "Al-Saab Olympic Indoor Swimming Pool" located in Baghdad (Iraq) at a latitude of 33.32°N. A computer program was built using the MATLAB environment to solve the mathematical model equations to calculate the solar fraction factor (f) of the proposed solar heating system at different solar collecting areas, at two different types of the solar collector which are (type A: two covers selective absorber solar collector, and type B: pool absorber (PVC) solar collector), and at four different values of (Ms) which are (25, 50, 75, and 100 Kg/m2collecting area). The results showed that the highest values of solar fraction factor were obtained when using the solar collector type A. It has been observed, that the effect of changing Ms is imperceptible on the value of the solar fraction factor (f) at solar collecting area less than 5000 m2 but its effect increases at solar collecting area more than 5000 m2.
