Adaptive Processing and Analysis of Electrocardiosignals in Children: an Interdisciplinary Approach

Social, economic, and cultural transformations in the society inevitably affect youth development guidelines. These transformations often fail to consider individual characteristics of human growth and development, having an adverse impact on psychophysiological health status: cognitive performance decreases, and anxiety and hyperactivity levels increase. An interdisciplinary approach and an effective use of various diagnostic methods enhance the analysis of human body organ systems functioning, considering an expertise of engineering, medical, biological, and psychological sciences. The paper reviews methods for assessing developmental deficits in children and adolescents by means of electrophysiological measurements of cardiac action potentials. A novel technique for assessing developmental deficits using the Hilbert-Huang transform has been presented. This technique enables us to comprehensively trace the process of searching for optimal electrocardiosignal (ECS) markers in children with developmental deficits. Identification and selection of signal markers for developmental deficits is based on a combination of optimal decomposition results and mathematical analysis of the studied ECS.
