Fused optical couplers: power transfer between optical fibers

The rapid development of communication networks and equipment requires the equally rapid development of a large number of components for the effective use of advanced technologies in the field of communications. Over the past few years, significant work has been done on the development of optical sources, detectors, amplifiers, connectors. All these components are designed to work with fiber-optic communication networks, but they are not made of optical fiber. However, there are many components, such as optical filters, multiplexers, fused optical couplers, which are made directly from optical fibers. Acting on the optical fiber, can change its transmission characteristics. This article is devoted to the theoretical description of the power transfer between fused optical fibers from the composition of fused optical couplers. The article deals with the types and parameters of fused optical couplers. Experimental research of spectral characteristics of optical couplers was carried out.
