Comparison of local ultra-wideband radio navigation systems architectures

Local positioning systems (LPS) are being implemented everywhere. The most promising are ultra-wideband (UWB) LPS because of their high accuracy, the possible tracking of a large number of objects and the high measurement rate. Among the UWB LPS the most interesting are one-way ranging systems, as they are more technological, but at the same time more complex. This article discusses options for improving the performance of one-way ranging local UWB radio navigation systems, as well as variants of construction and methods for estimating the state vector. The analysis of carried experiment showed an almost twofold reduction in the positioning error when the time of transmission was added to the measurements, and the transition from a one-step estimation using the least squares method to a filtering one using a nonlinear Kalman filter.
