Comprehensive Comparison of the Application of Dynamic Optimization Algorithms for LFC of a Double Area System With the Penetration of Renewable Energy Sources

This paper presents a comprehensive comparison of the application of three different optimization methods for adaptive load frequency control considering the penetration of renewable energy sources. The proposed optimization methods are applied to load frequency control (LFC) for a double area system consisting of thermal and hydropower plants and the renewable energy source of photovoltaic and wind power plants in each area. The double area power system has been linked with AC-DC parallel linkage. A Balloon effecthas been applied for improving the system respons.e Matlab/Simulink is used to get the results used for the comparison. The results prove the effectiveness of the dynamic optimization algorithms to regulate the LFC with high robustness against external disturbance and parameter uncertainty.
