Adaptive boundary control of an Euler-Bernoulli beam subject to unknown tip load

This paper concentrates on adaptive boundary control of Euler-Bernoulli beams with unknown tip loads and distributed perturbations. An adaptive law is designed by using the boundary output signal to estimate the tip load. To inhibit the vibration of the beam, an adaptive boundary controller is presented by introducing the designed adaptive law. With the proposed controller, the uniform boundedness of the adaptive error and the beam system state are obtained. At the end, the validity and merits of the proposed method are simulated and demonstrated.
