Enhanced Impedance Bandwidth of Highly Compact Implantable Antenna using Magnetodielectric Substrate

In this communication, the implantable antenna is designed using Roger RT/duroid substrate in the ISM band. Different magneto dielectric substrate materials are analyzed with different dielectric constant and relative permeability. The impedance bandwidth of the implantable antenna is enhanced from 190 MHz to 410 MHz using MDS. The resonating frequency of the reference antenna is shifted from 2.44 GHz to 1.78 GHz. Such a great reduction of resonating frequency leads to miniaturize antenna size. Various combinations of relative permittivity and relative permeability of MDS materials ensure the safe value of SAR for patient health. All such materials show good performance of implantable antenna for biomedical applications.
