Compact Multi-Ring Two-Element MIMO Antenna with Enhanced Isolation for UWB Application

A compact Two-element MIMO antenna for ultra-wideband application is designed. The proposed single element antenna has a triangular partial ground plane while the patch comprises multi-rings integrated into one structure with a total antenna size of 22×26×1.67mm

. Two MIMO antennas structures with and without isolation structures are designed. A comparative study on the performances of both designs is done. As a result, MIMO antenna with isolation has better performances than without isolation structure. The peak gain of the structure is 6.4dB, less than -20dB mutual coupling at the majority of the frequency range with an ECC value of <0.0098 and diversity gain of >9.947. The overall size of the structure has 26×44×1.67mm
