Data acquisition board for instrumentation and probing of lower atmosphere

In this paper, we present the electrical design of a data acquisition board containing digital sensors, a central processing unit, a secondary storage unit and wireless transceivers for data transfer as well as for localization purposes. The board is intended to evaluate the performance of the modules included and serve as a reference for an instrumentation system that encapsulates the electrical components in a spherical container that will be used to probe the lower atmosphere. The proposal here disclosed promotes the assembling of an electric circuit by undergraduate engineering students restricting to a minimum the use of commercial modules (shields) in order to motivate a design from basic principles. Models of the mechanical structure that is considered to contain the modules here detailed are also presented.
