Rectification at Various Temperatures in YBa2Cu3Oy Coated Conductors With PrBa2Cu3Oy Buffer Layers

It is essential to reduce the cooling cost toward further spread of superconducting magnets. One of the problems for reducing the cooling cost is heat leak via the current leads. The heat leak is a problem in nuclear fusion and accelerators that require the applications with high magnetic fields and high currents. We propose wireless-power-transfer to superconducting magnets to suppress the heat leak. To realize this, superconducting diodes are needed to rectify the current at cryogenic conditions. In this study, we focused on the structure of the REBa
₂
Cu
₃
O
_y
(REBCO) films to realize superconducting diodes. We aim to develop rectifying properties by controlling the lattice strain at the interface of the REBCO films. Furthermore, we evaluated the rectification characteristics at various fields and temperatures to investigate the optimal operating conditions toward the superconducting magnet applications. As a result, we confirmed the maximum rectification characteristics at 70 K and 0.096 T.
