Optimization of Survivability of a Mission Critical System in the Presence of Hardware Trojans

The paper presents a novel redundancy-based technique to optimize the survivability of a mission-critical system when its operational components can have hardware Trojans which are activated at run-time. A computationally efficient technique is presented to find the optimal set of redundant components under a given cost budget of the system designer. Numerous numerical results are presented which provide important insights and show the performance advantages of our proposed technique.
