Exploring Players' Sentiments Toward Simulation Games: A Case Study in Thailand

Simulation games have many advantages for both entertaining and educational purposes. There are millions of players who spend time and money on games. However, simulation games are costly and require more time on missions. Therefore, this paper explores the players' feelings toward game features. Furthermore, we also explore players' behavior based on how they spend money and time on games. We acquire the related data from players in Thailand by using online questionnaires. This study constitutes two main contributions. First, we provide statistical analysis to discover the characteristics and behavior of the players on how they spend money and time on games and players' satisfaction with existing game features. Second, we perform sentiment analysis on game features, price, and time spent on game missions. Our analysis found that players' characters, ability, and environment are essential features. Moreover, the results present that event the games are expensive, players are willing to pay on a one-time purchase rather than for in-game content and new expansion. The results also depict that the players spend more time in the games. However, they have favorable opinions for a shorter time to complete missions.
