Analysis of SAR for Human Head with Transparent Single Shields using TLM

The utilization of mobile smartphone handsets with wireless internet has been escalating at an enormous rate. Due to a broader expansion and evolution of contemporary wireless telecommunication, radiation emitting from mobile phones is also accelerating with each day. This rise in Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) radiation level that mobiles generate has impacted human health and safety. The present situation has concerned us to investigate the Radio Frequency (RF) radiation causing dosimetry parameters such as Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) and theoretical analysis to mitigate the SAR. By introducing a suitable shield between the human head and the mobile smartphone, the SAR emitted from the source can be found at many frequencies of mobile phone operation. The Transmission Line Method analysis for SAR evaluation is determined with the help of the performance of a shield called Shielding Effectiveness (SE). The shield material is composed of thin films which are flexible and transparent. These shield materials are Ag film and AgNW doped with PDDA as Single Shields (SS). The SAR of multi-layered planar head models of an adult and a child considering the worst-case RF field are assessed with these shields. Using a SS of AgNW/PDDA film at 6 GHz, with an AgNW/PDDA shield, the adult/child seven-layered head absorbed a SAR of 0.046 mW/Kg and 0.0019 mW/Kg, respectively. The obtained results show a much higher reduction in SAR absorbed by the head using SS than SAR of the head without any shield.
