Full Range Soft-Switching for On-board EV Charger using Multi-classification Algorithm

Multi-classification a lgorithm (MCA) for generating customized pulse width modulation (cPWM) is proposed in this paper to achieve the soft-switching during full battery charging range for transportation applications. A 500 W, 80 kHz dc-dc converter operation is controlled by using MCA. The proposed algorithm controls the operation of the converter according to the battery charging characteristics. The MCA controlled configuration h aving l ow d uty-cycle l oss, c onduction l oss, very low switching loss, and becomes economical due to low ratings of the rectifier d iodes. T he c onverter w ith p roposed algorithm exhibits the peak efficiency o f 9 6.48% d uring b attery charging process.
