A New Robust Static State Estimation Scheme for Power Systems Using Complex PMU Measurements

In this paper, a new robust static state estimation (NRSSE) scheme has been developed with the implementation of linear measurement model. In order to provide robust framework of state estimation (SE) against outliers, the proposed approach combines the robust M-estimator with a non-iterative novel static state estimation (NSSE) approach. With the implementation of linear measurement model obtained from Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs), the proposed scheme is iterative free and further with the implementation of M-estimator, the proposed approach doesn’t require a separate bad data processing (BDP) technique which is necessary for all the non-robust SSE approaches. The performance of the proposed approach has been validated by applying it on IEEE 57 and IEEE 118 bus test system and then comparing it with the existing method of NSSE considering two cases i.e., NSSE without BDP and NSSE with BDP.
