The Simplified Approaches to Nanosecond Pulsed Discharge Modeling with Comparison of Experimental and Numerical Data

Simulations of discharges are challenging problems due to the discrepancy between electrons and ions behaviors in different discharge regions, conditions, and processes. The accurate representation of discharges requires small time steps to simulate because of the time scales of electrons in processes such as reactions, relaxations, and transportations. Comparing simulations with the experimental data needs simplified approaches to the models to keep computational efforts on a reasonable level. To specify the effects of the simplifications, the cheapest physical and numerical models were chosen to initiate the progress.
