A Scattering Type Formulation for Dispersion Characteristic of Planar Transmission Line

The technique of dispersion characteristics calculation of open slotline and microstrip line by using scattering-type formulation to describe the field in partial regions are realized. The improvement of the method is that for algebraization of boundary value problems we use a basis that considers the field singularity on thin edges. The characteristics of an open slotline and microstrip line are calculated and compared with the characteristics of shielded structures. To test the method the scattering characteristics of the dominant wave of the microstrip line on an H-shaped slot resonator in the ground plane are calculated. Their comparison with the measurements results of experimental printed circuit board showed high efficiency of using scattering-type formulation to describe the field in open structures.
