The Role of Emerging Technologies in Smart Healthcare

Healthcare technologies extend from smart devices, gadgets, and methodologies to medication and vaccination that provide superior quality care and reduce cost for highly paid operations and hospitals. These healthcare technologies are referred to as emerging technologies. The emerging technologies have transformed the way of our living by changing almost every sector of life in one or the other way. As the population is rising tremendously, the vigilance of elderly people and children in health and hygiene is becoming crucially significant due to which the healthcare demands of wellbeing have been extended to a greater extent which is also challenged by the patients and consumers to provide quality services. With regard to this factor, the healthcare sector demands technologists bring smartness in the patient's lifestyle to facilitate the effectiveness and accuracy in the treatment and diagnosis. Therefore, in this chapter, we discuss the importance and role of emerging technologies comprising Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, 3D printing, and 5G networking (AIB35) in smart healthcare and their applications. We also discuss smart aging that facilitates an environment to senior citizens for the elevation of lifestyle by adopting high‐tech solutions and challenges driven in the field of healthcare.
