Evaluation of the Performance of Energy Storage System Participating in Grid Frequency Regulation

Energy storage system participating in frequency regulation has become an important way for power grid to absorb the frequency fluctuation caused by renewable energy connection. At the present stage, the allocation mechanism of China's frequency regulation(FR) auxiliary service market is not perfect, and there is no fair market mechanism for energy storage to the FR of power grid. In this paper, an evaluation of energy storage system efficiency based on TOPSIS method is proposed, which comprehensively considers the cost, performance and economy of energy storage in the process of frequency modulation, so as to reasonably allocate energy storage in the auxiliary service market. The operating results show that the lithium battery has the best performance in daily disturbances, and the compressed air energy storage's performance is the best under shock load disturbance.
