A Security Protocol for Smart Meters

Data collection of electric power consumption is directly related to the interests of power companies and electricity users, so the collection of telegraph data is constantly updated. To effectively monitor and predict the grid status in real time, smart meters need to verify access to the grid and often send the user's electricity consumption information to the control center. However, the existing key exchange protocols, such as IEEE802.15.6 still has loopholes, which threaten the reliability of smart meters. Moreover, the server side of the power grid has a lot of delay costs because of the excessive workload, which reduces the query efficiency of users. To solve the above problems, we put forward a scheme for uploading electricity information of smart meters based on the authentication protocol key proposed by Zhang, which ensures integrity, confidentiality, and authentication while uploading the electricity information of smart meters. The protocol designed of this scheme is unbalanced and can effectively reduce the burden of the server.
