Detection of False Data Injection Attack in Smart Grid via Sliding-Mode Interval Observer

As the typical malicious cyber-physical attack, false data injection attack (FDIA) has led huge impacts to smart grid security. Therefore, this paper develops a method against the FDIA based on sliding-mode interval observer detection. By considering the limitation of detection threshold design, an detection criteria based on interval residual is designed. In addition, a sliding-mode interval observer is further proposed to improve the accuracy of state estimation by considering the effects of unknown disturbance. Based on the l1 performance, the robustness of interval residuals against the unknown disturbance is improved. Finally, the effectiveness and superiority of developed detection method against FDIA is demonstrated on the IEEE 36-bus grid.
