Research on the Construction of a Virtual Interactive Mountaineering Map of Mount Everest

The difficulty of climbing Mount Everest has been gradually reduced with the continuous progress of technology, but there are still great risks. In response to the current problem of high threshold for climbing Mount Everest, this paper proposes a virtual interactive mountaineering map based on DEM (Digital Elevation Model) data. The map restores the real terrain features and landform characteristics of Everest region, and simulates the climate environment under different weather conditions according to the real climate data of Everest region. The map can provide climbing enthusiasts with the opportunity to visit Everest in the virtual world. This study also lays the foundation for further applications such as mountaineering path planning and simulation.
