A Method for Determining Sorted Level Curves in the Radiation Pattern of an Antenna

Nowadays, many CAD tools can visualize level curves on the radiation pattern of an antenna. However, most of them do not provide isocontour data, which is essential for antenna beam coverage analysis. In this letter, a new method for determining contour lines with direct access to the associated data is proposed. It consists of three stages: first, creation of a new spherical grid; second, determining locations of an isovalue via inverse interpolation; finally, forming level curves. The proposed method is more accurate than the well-known MATLAB
contour
function, having the same computational complexity, and does not require any additional processing of input/output data.
