RGA Analysis and Hardware Implementation of PSO Based Decoupled Mimo System

The control of liquid level is very important and is of great interest in process control industries such as food processing, water purification and effluent treatment. Four-tank system (MIMO system) is a bench mark system used to illustrate multivariable control in such processes. The primary objective of this paper is to completely eliminate the interactions between the tanks using Relative Gain Array (RGA) method and then by designing a decoupler. In this paper, the conventional Proportional Integral (PI) controller parameters are tuned using Internal Model Control (IMC) technique. Thereafter, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is utilized to improve the system's dynamic performance. It is then validated using the experimental setup interfaced with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software.
