A new inexpensive approach for securing cyber-physical systems

The essence of cyber-physical systems (CPS) mandates the connectivity of the components together and to the Internet, making it more accessible. Therefore, cyber security (CS) is a crucial concern in this matter. This article enables a method based on Cisco SAFE (C-SAFE) approach to provide a network architecture with open-source security capability (SCap) for a CPS. This method is suitable for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) which are not in favor of high expenditures. The architecture handles the security threats in four parts: segmentation, visibility and analytic, secure remote, and services, and focuses on the availability aspect of security.
