A Compact Fractal Antenna for Ultra-Wide Band Operation

A compact microstrip fractal antenna is investigated in this study for Ultra-Wide Band Operation. Microstrip insert-fed technique is rigorously investigated with edge fractal structure. This Paper presents a generalized approach of microstrip Makowski shaped fractal having patch antenna. The antenna is introduced with slots to improve the performances. Succeeding stage, the radiator patch is tuned to the desired antenna with improved impedance matching. The Proposed Antenna provides multiband characteristics having resonant frequency of 8.9 GHz and 15 GHz respectively of bandwidth of 1GHz and 0.8 GHz. The proposed antenna is implemented a single FR4 substrate of size 40x40x1.6mm3, which is suitable for mobile as well as satellite application.
