Cause analysis of line tripping caused by arrester protection failure

For the arrester fault of 220 kV overhead transmission line, the appearance inspection, insulation resistance, DC leakage current and 8 / 20 μ s impulse current tests were carried out on the problem arrester. The results showed that the appearance inspection and electrical test of the same manufacturer and the same batch of products all met the standard requirements. Combined with test and on-site inspection, it is believed that the reason for line tripping caused by the failure of arrester protection is due to the defects in the installation method. Suggestions on installation, operation and maintenance are put forward.
