Development of Transformer Winding Fault Monitoring System Based on Vibration Analysis

The signal emitted by the transformer vibration contains a wealth of operating status information, which can be used as an important means to enrich the abnormal condition detection of transformers. The article reveals the mechanism of transformer winding vibration generation by both theory and simulation, and simulates the vibration of transformer under three cases of winding loosening, winding deformation and insulation shedding. According to the results of theoretical research and simulation analysis, this article designs a set of online monitoring system of transformer winding mechanical fault based on abnormal vibration analysis with VMD algorithm as the core. Finally, the overall test of the fault diagnosis system is conducted in the laboratory environment: The VMD entropy value of the diagnosis system tends to be abnormal when unusual mechanical vibration occurs, which verifies the effectiveness of the transformer winding mechanical fault diagnosis system.
