A Design Method of Special Elastic Chuck for High Speed Precision Grinding Valve Collar

In order to meet mass production requirements of high-speed precision grinding of valve collar and other slender rod parts, a single-cone back-pull elastic chuck device that can realize the collet sleeve double-head clamping the collet is designed. It also provides a design method for a complete set of back-pull elastic chuck including collet, collet sleeve and spindle taper hole. In order to achieve good dynamic rigidity and high precision for the chuck under the state of high-speed grinding, the necessary clamping force is first calculated. Then the force of each part of the chuck is calculated. Afterwards the structure and wall thickness of the collet sleeve are optimized. In particular, the optimal tightening force and the minimum wall thickness at the rear end of the collet sleeve are optimized. Finally, an application case is used to verify the effectiveness of the design of this fixture. The whole set of elastic chuck has a light and compact structure, which is suitable for high-speed precision grinding of slender rod parts.
