Development of a gamified mobile application to learn Braille symbols

Visual impairment in children is a situation that affects their incorporation into regular schools, which has a negative impact on people’s social and emotional development. The braille system is a method devised with the aim that blind people can read and write. The development of inclusive technologies is essential to meet the learning needs of students with disabilities that ensure educational inclusion. The main objective of this work is the design of a mobile application that incorporates gamification elements that can be used to learn braille signs. The prototype of the mobile application with gamification elements that is proposed becomes an instrument, which can be used by visually impaired children to learn braille symbols and by the teacher to conFigure activities. Through the use of the mobile application, a motivating and fun activity can be facilitated, so that any learning associated with it has a high probability of being acquired successfully. The preliminary results obtained are considered favorable.
