Dielectric Analysis Applied to Power Transformers Insulation Design

This paper presents the dielectric analysis of two electrode configurations used in dielectric tests, which present geometries that approximate real power transformer insulation arrangements. The configurations were modeled and simulated using computer-aided engineering, based on Finite Element Analysis, in Ansys Electronics

software. Furthermore, the analyzes were based on industry design curves and the cumulative stress method. This study allows to evaluate and define the regions of probable dielectric breakdown, validating the two configurations proposed for use in experimental dielectric tests.
