Channel Characterization of Horizontal Beam Switching in Urban Overtaking Scenario

Nowadays, the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) has attracted much attention. With more and more breakthroughs in vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology, ITS is becoming increasingly intelligent. This paper pays attention to vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication. The existing research on V2V communication has included many scenarios, such as fixed transmitters, vehicle turning, but there is rarely presented research on the beam switching under the condition of both vehicles moving. Therefore, this paper focuses on the horizontal beam switching on the channel in overtaking scenario and uses the ray-tracing (RT) simulator to characterize the channel at the 22.1 GHz-22.4 GHz frequency band. The results of RT simulations can guide the construction of vehicle antenna for future V2V communication.
