A Yagi-Uda Array of Bond Wire Antennas with High Front-to-Back Ratio

This paper presents a Yagi-Uda array of bond wire antennas (BWAs) with high front-to-end (F/B) ratio. The proposed antenna array achieves a F/B ratio of more than 40 dB by utilizing bond wires as the reflectors and the directors. Meanwhile, a higher gain can be obtained by this means. Good consistency is observed between the simulation and the measurement. According to the measured results, the 10-dB impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna array is from 56.7 GHz to 62.2 GHz (9.3%), and the maximum gain is 13.1 dBi.
