Real Time Correction of Multipath Error in Satellite Positioning using FPGA-Accelerated Ray Tracing

Affected by the shadowing effect of high and large buildings, the traditional positioning method will have errors that suffer from the effect of multipath and non-line-of-sight propagation. In order to solve the above problem, this paper uses 3D maps and ray tracing method to correct multipath error. In order to meet the requirements of real-time positioning and portable computing, the acceleration system of multipath error correction is constructed by using FPGA and ARM structures of ZYNQ development board. Simulation and measurement results show that the speed of ray tracing running on the FPGA is much higher than on ARM, and multipath error is effectively reduced by using the proposed method.
