New Concept for SAR Reduction in 5G Antenna Application

A new SAR reduction technique for 5G antenna application is proposed. U-edges combined with corrugated ground plane to control the surface current distribution and reducing SAR. Analysis of the effects of corrugated ground plane with metallic U edge surrounding the ground plan is presented. The design parameters of both corrugations and U-edges is optimized to maintain impedance matching and SAR reduction over 3.4GHz to 3.8GHz. The proposed structure can reduce SAR by 60%.
