A Vibration Reduction of a Lightweight Metamaterial Beam

Metamaterials have special properties that natural materials do not have, such as negative refractive index, negative stiffness, etc. The study on vibration reduction of metamaterial beams is a hot spot^[2]. This paper proposes a local resonance type lightweight metamaterial beam that can not only realize the vibration reduction in the low frequency range, but also can improve the structure with light weight. In this paper, the solid mechanics module of the COMSOL Multiphysics software is used to calculate the modes and frequency response curves of the semi-paved metamaterial beam. It can be concluded that this structure can achieve the dual requirements of lightweight and vibration reduction.
