Thermodynamic Simulation and Analysis of Aeronautical Servo Actuator

How different cooling structures influence the temperature of actuator and its sensor, piston rod, cylinder barrel in an aero-engine environment is presented in this paper. The actuator in the aero-engine environment is always at a high temperature. However, high temperature will make the sensor doesn’t work. Adding a cooling structure for the actuator will lower its temperature. According to the result of survey, three kinds of actuators are constructed: actuator without cooling structure, actuator with non-annular cooling structure, and actuator with annular cooling structure. The finite element analysis method is used to simulate the above three kinds of actuators under extreme working conditions. Through the analysis of the simulation results, it is found that cooling structure has a good cooling effect on the actuator and its sensor, piston rod, cylinder barrel. And the annular cooling structure has a better effect. This will provide theoretical fundament for the design of cooling structure of the actuator in an aero-engine environment.
