Fuzzy based Solar MPPT for Electric Vehicle Application

The varying needs of electricity and increasing concern to save the earth from global warming and depleting natural non-renewable resources, battery-powered Electric Vehicle (EVs) finds their use in the transportation sector as an alternative to current Internal Combustion Engines of Vehicles. To power an EV battery, charging stations are required. In this paper, a charging strategy with a clean source of energy solar is described. At first peak power is extracted from the PV panel using a boost converter with fuzzy logic controller and then a buck converter steps down the obtained voltage from the boost converter to desired voltage level with the help of fuzzy logic controller. The MATLAB results reveal the effectiveness of this system.
