DSP-Based PWM AC-DC Converter for DC voltage Regulation with Linear control Characteristics

This paper presents the design and implementation of a digital signal processor (DSP) base pulse width modulation (PWM) for a single-phase AC-DC converter. The proposed multi-loop digital controller has a PI controller designed for internal current loop and output voltage as external voltage feedback using transfer function and state-space approach. The controller is imparted linear control characteristics to improve closed-loop response by using a cosine carrier wave signal. A complete system design based on MATLAB/Simulink is being developed. Further, the PWM control signal is generated using the MATLAB/Simulink model interfaced with the TMS320F2812 DSP controller. To evaluate the efficiency of a designed controller, replicas are made under several types of converter loads. Experimental results validate the proposed control strategy and the designed controller exhibits a good transient response.
