Off-grid solar market in Rwanda: Integrated SWOT analysis

Africa and other continents are embracing themselves to give a better life to all nations. Off-grid solar systems are attracting worldwide attention when it comes to rural areas electrification especially in developing countries. Rwanda is no exception; the government has favored the off-grid electricity generation to increase the access and inexpensive systems. Solar home systems are most commonly used in rural areas. This paper provide insight into the structure of the SHS market in Rwanda and have analyze the currently market and project the future of SHS market in rural area using Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis to show the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats for seek of encouraging the attraction of investors on the markets. Results show that due to the population growth in rural areas the use of SHS will grow as well. Strength analysis shows that the market of SHS in Rwanda is a good investment for the future.
