Voltage Harmonic Analysis of the 12-phase Synchronous Generator under Grid Connected Operation

Twelve-phase rectified synchronous generator, which can provide high-power and high-quality DC power supply, has been widely used in ships, aircraft, and other mobile platforms. Considering the power quality of the system, this paper aims to analyze the equivalent model of the 12-phase generator and the voltage harmonic content when it is connected to the power grid. Firstly, the turn-on process of 12-phase rectifier bridge was studied, and the output voltage harmonics of a single generator were analyzed. Then, this study considered generators of different frequencies and calculated the voltage harmonics when generators of the same or different frequencies were connected to the grid. The analysis and calculation results provide an important basis for studying the power quality of 12-phase generators when connected to the grid.
