CO2 electrochemical reduction to C2H4 by anion exchange membrane electrode assemble device with high selectivity and productivity

We invented anion exchange membrane electrode assemble (AEM MEA) CO
2
electrochemical reduction device composed with electrodeposit-spray two step synthesized Cu
x
O catalyst on cathode. The Faraday Efficiency of C
2
H
4
reached up to 50% and C
2
H
4
yield reached 14.5mmol/h at 4V. The performance and stability of electrodeposit-spray Cu
x
O catalyst are superior than electrodeposited compare sample and commercial Cu-Cu
2
O sample. Therefore a competitive method of Cu
x
O catalyst synthesis and device fabrication for CO
2
utilization was demonstrated.
