Autonomous Cooperative Method of Distributed Energy Resources for Integrating Renewable Energy

The distributed energy resource (DER) can provide abundant flexibility to help the power system integrate the renewable energy. However, due to the DER’s characteristics of large number, scattered geographical location and time-varying state, the conventional "top-bottom" dispatching method is not suitable. Thus, based on the "bottom-top" idea, this paper proposes an autonomous cooperative method of DERs. Firstly, the customer directrix load (CDL) is used to guide DERs to integrate the maximum renewable energy. Secondly, the CDL-tracking strategy of DERs is formulated based on consistency evaluation and the benefit distribution mechanism is designed for the latent DER coalitions. Thirdly, the autonomous cooperative method of DER coalition is elaborated based on a set of aggregation/disaggregation conditions. Finally, the case study demonstrates that the decentralized DERs can automatically aggregate into some coalitions to approach to the CDL and improve the integration of renewable energy. Compared with centralized optimization and independent response, this method is more accurate, efficient and profitable.
