Real-Time Implementation of Battery Management System in Electric Vehicles

The transformation from traditional gasoline vehicles to electric vehicles has been a steady process. With this increasing trend, there has been an increasing innovation and environmental awareness. However, Electric Vehicles (EVs) have not been safer, sleeker, or more exciting to drive. Similarly, in the case of smartphones, there have been a lot more battery-related accidents due to the improper handling system in batteries. Since these Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are rechargeable, they are widely employed in many applications such as portable devices, laptops, and smartphones. If they are missed to operate within their safest operation zone, they might become dangerous for the environment. With the spike in EVs used, we need to provide a better and safer battery management system (BMS). The BMS combines hardware and software systems. Usually, it requires a part of any high voltage battery pack. Their functions are necessary to make sure the vehicle is safe and balance vehicle performance with battery life. BMS frequently monitors every cell in the battery to predict the state of the system. They also ensure that the battery pack is neither over-charged nor over-discharged, extending its life. This paper aims at constructing a BMS that can be used in EVs and provide a User Interface for monitoring the data.
