Performance Analysis of Charge Controller for Electric Vehicle with Vehicle to Grid System

Electric vehicles are quickly becoming a thing of the future, with their use of clean energy being seen as one of the keys to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The increased usage of electric vehicles has resulted in them now being used as sources of energy, feeding power to the grid via Vehicle to Grid systems. The incorporation of such systems requires sophisticated charging setups in order to ensure bidirectional power flow, along with suitable grid synchronization mechanisms. Each electric vehicle system is further accompanied with a battery controller, to regulate the battery voltage and current and ensure safe operation during charging. This paper proposes a battery controller system using a Phase Shifted Full Bridge (PSFB) converter. Further, a bidirectional electric vehicle charging setup is presented, employing the battery charge controller, and the results of both simulations are analyzed. All simulations are performed in the Simulink environment.
