Research on Mutual Exclusion and Condition Synchronization in Concurrent Programming

In modern industrial development, computer programming becomes increasingly important and draws a speedily flourishing number of students’ interest. Studies have revealed that computer programming can develop people’s problem-solving ability and creativity skills effectively. In the computer science field, there are two main programming methods: Concurrent programming and sequential programming. Unlike sequential programming, concurrent programming can run multithreaded programs and improve the overall function of the system. In concurrent programming, mutual exclusion and condition synchronization are the two key factors to achieve inter-thread communication and synchronization. Without these basic elements, threads of concurrent programs may cause process interference or even deadlock.Based on the knowledge and practical ideas proposed by Magee and Kramer in 2006, this research puts forward the countermeasures to the producer/consumer problem and the dining philosophers problem. This paper aims to emphasize the role of mutual exclusion and condition synchronization in concurrent programming. It can be concluded that mutual exclusion and condition synchronization plays a significant role in concurrency.
