W-band Linear Polarization to Circular Polarization Convertor Based on Multilayer Meta-surface

In modern wireless application systems, circularly polarized antennas have received extensive attention and are used in communications, remote sensing and telemetry, radar, electronic reconnaissance, and electronic interference. However, circularly polarized antennas are hard to be realized in higher frequency (e.g., W-band or THz-band) because the small physical size of millimeter wave/terahertz antennas meet huge difficulties during fabrication. In this work, we present a multilayer metasurface, which can convert linearly polarized electromagnetic waves into circularly polarized waves. Simulation shows that such metasurface exhibits axle ratio < 2 and insertion loss < 2 dB within ±60° oblique angle incidence in the W-band.
