A Hybrid ESM-EDM Approach for 3D Radiation Source Localization and Radiated Field Prediction

In this paper, a hybrid emission source microscopy (ESM) combined with equivalent dipole modeling (EDM) approach from the data of near-field scan is proposed for 3D radiation source localization and radiated field prediction. In this ESM-EDM approach, based on the characteristics of linear operation of ESM algorithm and Fourier transform, a 3D ESM method extending the scanning point distribution from 2D plane to 3D volume space is proposed. For complex and large systems with multiple sources, this ESM will show more powerful to localize the position of radiation emission source, in comparison with planar 2D scanning. Besides, a equivalent dipole-moment model consisting of magnetic dipole array based on near-field scanning is also used to replace equipment under test (EUT) for the prediction of radiated field. Moreover, an optimization approach with the regularization and SVD method is adopted to improve the simulation efficiency. Finally, this paper presents the source localization and radiation field prediction methodology, along with simulation results. The results show that the proposed method can accurately locate the position of multiple radiation sources and calculate radiated far-field on a complex PCB. This demonstrated the validity and accuracy of the proposed ESMEDM method. Therefore, the modeling method in this paper offers a potential way to study the electromagnetic interference of complex electronic devices system in the industrial site
