Antenna Design Based on Phase-transforming Properties of the Spoof Surface Plasmon Polaritons (SSPPs)

In this paper, an antenna design method based on the phase-transforming spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) is proposed. This method utilizes specific phase constants provided by SSPP unit cells with different configurations to establish phase distribution required in different designs. Independent phase transforming of SSPP-mode waves are obtained by etching unit cells on either edge of wide conductor with isolating walls. Based on the phase transforming property, antennas could be designed to realize beam scanning, circularly polarized radiation and monopulse patterns. Meanwhile, this design method has promising prospect in antenna designs desiring reconfigurable pattern.
