Design of Fault Tolerant Algorithm for Hub Motors

This paper aims at the reliability and the fault-tolerant ability of wheel vehicle hub motors and realizes the fault-tolerant operation of the hub motor in case of failure. In this paper, the ultimate fault tolerance capability of the motor, winding control technology, and torque ripple suppression technology during fault-tolerant motor operation are studied. The form and influence of motor winding fault are simulated and analyzed, and the corresponding fault handling method is put forward. A current harmonic suppression algorithm is presented for the torque ripple during fault status. Finally, the simulation analysis shows that the algorithm can suppress the torque pulsation of the faulty motor, thus realizing the fault tolerant operation of the faulty motor.
